A creative mess is better than tidy idleness

I completed a set (five) of cloth napkins for my nephew on Monday night.  I didn’t think to take a picture of them.  Honestly, I think I consciencely avoided taking a picture of them because they weren’t all that great.  I didn’t pay enough attention to the material that my nephew was picking out and they just didn’t have the heavy quality I was looking for…that and I need a new rotary blade so i should have cut them by hand, but I didn’t so they weren’t exactly all square.  But my nephew is four and he is excited that he gets to take cloth napkins in his lunch bag to school.  He doesn’t care that they are a little catawampus…he just cares that I told him I would make them and I did.  Now to finish the crocheted dinosaur I have been promising him for months.  AUGH!

Last night I worked on cutting out all of the fabric for a gift for B.  In the off chance she reads this before I see her this weekend, I can’t post too many details, but I am super excited.  A little worried about getting it done by Friday morning, but I think it is possible.  If I stay focused.  I think following some of the steps in the pattern will be a little tricky, like just what does one mean when they say …press edge under thread, but keep thread from showing…  What exactly am I supposed to do with the thread?  Hopefully it’ll make more sense when I have fabric in hand and I have successfully completed the previous seven steps to assembly.

I also ordered B a gift on-line, but being the terrible procrastinator that I am, I just ordered it today, so chances are she won’t receive it until late next week.  I did ship it to her house though, so at least she won’t have to wait until I see her again.

B, her husband and children, and I are going to spend time this weekend in Tucson & Bisbee doing the tourist thing.  B and I have decided to create a new tradition by celebrating our Very Merry Unbirthday  (A very merry unbirthday to me (to who?)  A very merry unbirthday to me (to you)  Let’s all congratulate me with a present I agree.  A very merry unbirthday to me)  on July 21st, which is exactly the half way point between her birthday and mine.  I can’t wait!  We always have such a blast when we are together.  Probably much more fun then two people should rightfully have, but that’s okay, I quite like it that way.

Hopefully I’ll have pictures to post when I get back on Tuesday.  Will have to go to Mom & Dad’s and use their computer to upload them.  really need to figure out what to give up in our budget so that we can have Internet access again…but first things first, I should finish cleaning up the files on my computer and hook up the one that J gave me.

Of course, that simple task alone is opening a can of worms since I am thinking about moving my computer into the dining room.  But there is just so many things that have to be done before that can be accomplished.  Well, if it isn’t one thing….
